Audio Options

Explanation

You need to know how to disable, pause or mute audio when reading books.

Resolution

Pause Audio:

There is a pause/play button in the middle of the menu bar. If you press this button the audio/highlighting will be paused for just that page, but will start up again when the page is turned.

Mute Audio:

There is a Mute/Unmute button next to the Play/Pause button in the menu bar. If you press mute, the book it will remain on mute until you press Play.

Disable Audio:

Audio can be disabled completely, per individual student, or for multiple students at once. From your dashboard, click on Classroom > Students. Mark the box/boxes next to each student you wish to disable audio for > click in the Select an Action dropdown and choose Audio Setting. In the Select Audio Setting dropdown box select Always Off. A box will appear asking you to confirm whether you want to change audio settings, select Yes.

Another way to turn off audio is through the Reading Options when creating/editing projects.  Refer to the article “How to Create Projects (Faculty)” or “How To Edit Projects (Faculty)” for more information on this option.

Speed of Audio:

There is an option to adjust the audio speed while reading an ebook. If you click the three horizontal lines in the menu bar, to the right of the screen you'll see an Audio Speed setting. Click on one of the arrows to the right of the play button if you wish to speed up the audio, or the arrow on the left of the play button to slow down the audio.

Other Considerations

The device you’re reading books on needs to have working audio.
